A week from today I, along with my niece Megan, will be on the highways and byways of America with the sole purpose of exploring and seeing this great country. We will leave from Nashville and have only Mt. Rushmore and the Grand Canyon as official sites to visit. (Although Canyonlands National Park is fast moving up the ranks to being a must explore.) We have 12 days to do it before we must be back in Nashville for me to catch my fight back to Los Angeles.
My goal is to post updates to this blog so anyone interested in following along can. I won't promise to do it daily since I have no idea what our connections will be like and because this is a vacation and I don't want to HAVE to do it. That said, taking the time to do it will also help me to capture my memories since I imagine it will be a lot to absorb. And with any luck, I may enlist Meg to share a few thoughts and memories as well.
If you have any suggestions or ideas for us, we are open to it all. I know the Corn Palace, Wall Drug, Crazy Horse and Rapid City are on the list as long as we're heading to Mt. Rushmore. But giant balls of twine. World's Largest (fill in the blank) we are game. For me, this is a bucket list desire to drive the country and I am so grateful Meg is willing and able to spend time with her old Aunt and do this with me.
So, watch out America, we're heading out soon. I can't wait.
Kate
