Day 1: Nashville to St. Louis

Arrived in Nashville yesterday to be greeted by Johnny Cash.  Cab to my Air BnB (see photo below) and then was off to find food. After eating entirely too much, I had a little time to rest and then Megan, Bailey and Garett picked me up and we headed to downtown.  Meg found us a very cool rooftop bar where we had a view of the "batman" building and the stadium. Very cool to have my first drink with the now 21-year old Bailey and meet her boyfriend.  After a drink and nice conversation, back home to get some rest so we'd be ready for the road trip.
Hit the road about 9a en route to St. Louis.  Along the way, we happened upon a town called Evansville in Indiana, and had lunch at the converted Greyhound bus station turned brew pub called Bru.  After a tasty repast we walked around a bit and then found the waterfront (see below) where a barge was slowly making its way  amid the jet skiers and boaters.

Back on the road, Meg and I made it to St. Louis just in time for the Cards game to be letting out which meant we had to take a round-about way to the Arch.  Unfortunately, it was late enough that all trams to the top had been sold for the day, so we decided to regroup and make a plan.  Ultimately, we decided to hang out in St. Louis and get tickets for tomorrow.

An excellent dinner at Charlie Gitto's where we tried toasted ravioli and Megan had some amazing vanilla gelato and I creme brûlée and now we're crashing at the hotel.  A great first day on the road!
